DEAR MAHATMA GHANID:
I graduated from San Francisco State and landed a good job at Wells Fargo in Daly City. In my second year on the job I was able to upgrade to a brand new Ford Fusion hybrid on my own steam having grown tired of the old hand me down claptrap from my kindly folks. Off to a good start in life and career, my family beams with pride for the accomplishment of their eldest offspring daughter.
My Pop works for the Postal service while my Mom works for a clinic that does testing for FDA. My younger sister and the brother who’s the grown up baby boy of the brood are both in college and reaping their own accolades along the way. A model successful family high on achievement categorizes our own. Religious piety, duty, driven upward mobility, civic spirit, and American ideals color our everyday existence.
There was a classmate who became a close date since junior year but nothing more serious came out of it because we were too busy with our ambitions. Los Angeles beckoned and he moved there after graduation but we marked the goodbye with a real blowout party which really went wild and ended up in a motel room. Guess what after a heated foreplay the thing fizzled out because we were too drunk. I remember giggling like a lunatic as he lay there naked with a floppy member.
Problem cropped up lately since I met this unsophisticated self-employed Filipino guy at Serra Monte Mall one weekend. A small trucking business is his thing which he carries out with a rundown closed pick-up and an assistant. Moving stuff at warehouses or for private homeowners gives a good living when a network of contacts and references get established. Nothing more than a high school diploma makes the grade.
My father’s face fell in sarcastic angles when Winston paid a visit to our home. The kindest comment was my suitor’s genetics come from dark native chicken. My parents believe that part of the success track includes improving the family genetic line. We belong to America and our progeny should exhibit the looks to go with it. Their ambition is to have grandchildren that will be fifty percent Caucasian.
Sad to say, I’m drawn to Winston in some creepy perverse way. Kissing with him in the car or at parties leaves me breathless and agitated. His hard on never wanes and it’s so stiff and hefty like it could give me a thorough workout to satisfy all my cravings. His hardy muscles and chest are so divine to massage and caress and his tongue titillates with such gusto making me go over the edge at times. One time I swallowed him in the car.
I just got the lab results and I’m three months pregnant. Winston wants to marry me. We could afford to rent our own place but I don’t know how to break it to my family. From top achiever looks like I will now be the prodigal daughter. I would love my father to dote on my future baby and not be repulsed because he or she looks like a native Asian.
Having a trucker for a son in law would be a step down the ladder to the pinnacle of high accomplishment as far as he is concerned. Guess that could have been mitigated if I chose the right color.
KWANDARY
DEAR KWANDARY:
Your Pop is living a dream. Picture an upscale home in Burlingame and a family reunion with Caucasian kids intermixed with Oriental folks. That scene vests trappings of Americana. Driving to the supermarket in a Chrysler 300C with a Caucasian toddler in tow can make you look white over the dark brown skin and pug nose. Drinking Anheuser Busch beer in the lawn with a Waspish son in law who may be a Doctor, CEO, or IT whiz could deliver contented feelings of finally belonging and being part of the American dream.
All men are created equal regardless of color of skin is age worn. Love is blind is more trite. Follow the dictates of your heart no matter what is simplistic and soap operatic. But humping his brains out because he turns you on is as human and practical in everyday terms and lingo. Siring children and keeping them to be raised as upstanding citizens could be part of the development of civil society wherein all men of different persuasions, color, and creed harmoniously interact to forge a better world. Brochures that depict beautiful people and sceneries are not necessarily accurate caricatures.
So what if your family looks ethnic. As long as they don’t reek of vinegar and garlic but speak with an American slang or twang, then they are as Yankee as anybody else. America is a melting pot which strong flavors emanate from a diverse mix of people who value freedom and justice. Being brown need not be a handicap but a moving force coupled with inspiration to ascend to the highest peak. Look at Barack Obama who garnered a Nobel peace prize as an incumbent President of the United States. Take heart from the exploits of Tiger Woods who is half Thai in rising to the top of professional golf and snagging the voluptuous Rachel Uchitel along the way as one of the spoils.
Hip Hop and Rap are more prevalent and up to date as American trademarks than conventional yuppie or preppie pretensions. You can reinvent your baby to look Motown complete with corn rows to come off like an illegitimate love child of P. Diddy. Now you just can’t look more typically American than that. I’m sure your Papa will just be as proud to show off a budding little Kobe Bryant for a grandson in his arms or on a stroller at the amusement park. Drill him to practice saying ‘Yo’ and ‘Man’ to punctuate his speech while making hand signs with the crook of the thumb over the forefinger. That’s a lot better than the ‘F’ expletive that prefaces all the blurbs coming from mouths of Indian and Middle Eastern cabbies in Manhattan, New York City. The middle finger is not so cool either.

Magnificence comes with a brilliance that sweeps over senses with blitz...
Powdery grains play footsy between tiny bits of space to curdle romance...
Tight waist so svelte reaps kudos with hairy scents undulating the breeze...
Love is a window that we must go through fear not piquant comeuppance...
